I’m sure when the Gibbs brothers were composing Stayin’ Alive back in the late 70’s they never dreamed that 40 years later their song would become the anthem for CPR. The recent update to the Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR  guidelines indicate that the compression rate should be at least 100 beats per minute (the prior guidelines called for up to 100 beats per minute). The rhythm of this beloved disco favorite is the perfect pulse for a rescuer performing CPR.

You never know when this little tip may come in handy.
