Heart Disease is the leading cause of death for both men and women in the United States. Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) kills 300,000-400,000 Americans every year. Over 70% of cardiac arrest occur in the home.
Often when a person goes into cardiac arrest the victim’s heart goes into a chaotic rhythm called ventricular fibrillation. The definitive treatment for v-fib is early defibrillation. How early is early enough? Every minute that passes that the victim does not receive defibrillation their chance of survival slips away by about 10%. The national average response time for the ambulance…..10 minutes. In the vast majority of cases the response time is just not quick enough.
But if you were to have an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) available and applied it to the victim within the first few minutes the chance of survival is greatly increased. That is why we recommend having an AED in your home and are trained to use it.
Cardiac Care & Safety, Inc. not only sells these life-saving devices, but each sale comes with installation and training for the whole family.
