A new film is circulating in Scotland urging people to perform CPR to the beat the Proclaimers song “I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles)”. It features tv presenter Carole Smillie and was created in partnership with Save a Life for Scotland.
In the video, shared below, Smillie demonstrates CPR in a garden while singing along to a special version of the song with CPR-themed lyrics.
The goal of this campaign is to teach 500,000 Scots and save 1,000 lives by the year 2020. According to the BBC, of the 3,500 Scots treated annually for cardiac arrest only 1 in 13 survives. With each minute that passes before CPR is performed, the chance of survival decreases by 10%.
